CEPASDAfrica Tasks Youths on Collective Action Against Gender Based Violence
    Speakers at the Webinar Conference

    Global Youth Movement Against Gender Based Violence; a project of the Centre for Peace Advocacy and Sustainable Development (CEPASDAfrica) is a movement of Youth Activists, Young Professionals and Youth Ambassadors with special interest in the fight against gender based violence.

    More so, all those working in the field of gender based violence in developing long-term goals in reducing the prevalence of gender-based violence in the world through behavioral and attitudinal change among boys and men, increase capacity of young people in the fight against GBV and facilitate policy enhancements while creating global awareness on the prevalence of SGBV/GBV in the society to enable global action.

    The expression of the will of the Center for Peace Advocacy and Sustainable Development (CEPASDAfrica) for the movement to continue to work on policy action and prevention strategies with inter-sectorial and multiple cooperation in developing plans towards ending GBV, a Webinar Conference was held recently.

    The Conference which brought together youths from about 30 countries across the world was in recognition of the need to exchange ideas and share experiences in addressing and preventing GBV, which will assist the movement in designing further activities, present discourse on Conventions, charters and actions towards ending GBV,

      Additionally, further discussion of policies, framework and guidelines in responding to GBV, provide counseling and psychosocial support guidelines to victims and survivors of SGBV/GBV, and finally identity the role of youth and men towards ending GBV.

      Notable speakers at the Webinar Conference included the Lord Mayor of Banjul; Madam Rohey M. L, Dr. Ameena Ali, Prof Jude Ediae, Dr. Ghazala Khan PhD, Cynthia Mbamalu of YIAGA Africa, Abiodun Essiet; SA to the Abuja Municipal Area Council, Barrister Burkola Ajao and a host of others.

      While welcoming participants to the Conference, the convener of the movement and the host for the webinar conference; Igweshi Augustine highlighted the need for synergy, collaboration and partnership in other to win the fight against GBV.

      He also urged the youths for a collective action against GBV by becoming Youths Voice Against GBV Ambassador so as to serve as i-reporters who shall report cases of GBV to the nearest authority in their communities and countries.

      Broadly, the conference, which was in partnership with Federation of International Gender and Human Rights (FIGHR)USA, Voice of the Girl-Child and Vulnerable People Foundation (VGCVPF) FRG, unveiled a bold and practical strategic plan to address GBV around the world, which can be implemented in other countries across the world.
