How long does a fragrance oil last?
It is paramount to know these things as an oil perfume user to avoid allergies. The average shelf life of fragrance oil is about one year. It is dependent on time, temperature, and exposure to air and light. For best results, we suggest purchasing only enough fragrance that you will use within 6 months to a year, depending on the particular chemicals used to create the fragrance.
Another variable is the shelf life of the raw materials used to make up the fragrance. If there are more natural ingredients in the formula, it can spoil more quickly.
How do you store perfume oils:
It is best to store fragrance oils, especially those that will not be used immediately, in a cool dark place away from light and heat. In case you need to let the oils sit for over one year, we recommend testing each fragrance in a candle before making a large batch and also keeping the oils in Amber glass containers to minimize the potential damage to the fragrance oil.
