Recognizing that volunteerism and philanthropy provide real social bonding and contribute to the creation of inclusive and more resilient societies, the reigning Miss Face of Humanity Nigeria (MFOH Nigeria); Amb. Rita Chika Ezenwa, popularly known as Nerita has raised awareness about volunteerism, and why it is important to help those who are in need.
The ardent humanitarian, made this known on Thursday as a volunteer for a charity outreach organized by Betharbel Foundation at an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in the Durumi district of Abuja.
Fielding questions from newsmen, Amb. Nerita expressed her passion for getting involved with charitable courses as it enables her to continue to reach out to wider parts of society and assist those who need help the most.
Commenting on the importance of volunteering as an act of service to humanity, she noted thus: “Volunteerism is a basic expression of human relationships. It is about people’s need to participate in their societies and to feel that they matter to others.
“I strongly believe that the social relationships intrinsic to volunteer work are critical to individual and community well-being. This is because the ethos of volunteerism is infused with values such as solidarity, reciprocity, mutual trust, belonging, and empowerment, all of which contribute significantly to the quality of life and the goal of Miss Face of Humanity as a Brand.
“Also, there are different ways you can actually be of service to mankind and there are different treasures with respect to time, skills, talent, ideas, etc you can offer to help humanity thrive. One of the most appealing means of doing that for me and the Miss face of Humanity is through volunteering.
