HURIWA Sets Agenda for Service Chiefs, Challenges CDS, COAS, CAS

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has called on newly appointed service chiefs to rebuild the failing intelligence-gathering capacities of the Armed Forces and ensure harmony in Nigeria’s counter-terror operations.

The group, in a statement signed by the National Coordinator; Emmanuel Onwubiko urged collaboration between the Nigerian Army, Air Force, and Navy to avoid avoidable military airstrike casualties in the Boko Haram theatre of war.

    HURIWA further urged the new Chief of Defence Staff, Maj. Gen. C.G Musa, Chief of Army Staff, Maj. Gen T. A Lagbaja, Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral E. A Ogalla, and Chief of Air Staff, AVM H.B Abubakar, to work collaboratively and stamp out unprofessional conduct and indiscipline.

    Also, the group emphasized the need for comprehensive reforms within the military, urging fighters who have lost touch with their constitutional obligations to be re-conscientized.

      Additionally, HURIWA called on the Armed Forces to take back the original responsibility from the mercenaries of ex-Niger Delta militant Mujaheed Asari Dokubo, who claimed his men were contracted to secure the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway from murderous bandits and terrorists.
