HURIWA Urges Supreme Court to Maintain October 31st Date for Imo Gubernatorial Suits

HURIWA Urges Swift Resolution of Imo Gubernatorial Suits

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has called upon the Supreme Court to expedite the hearing of the pending Imo gubernatorial suits, emphasizing the importance of justice without delay.

HURIWA’s statement, signed by the National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, also expressed concerns about alleged attempts to influence the rescheduled hearing date and called for the preservation of the October 31, 2023, date.

“These suits involve contentious issues surrounding the authentic candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 Imo State election.

The organization noted that justice must be served promptly, as any delay could damage Nigeria’s international reputation and undermine trust in the judiciary. HURIWA further implored the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, to resist external pressures and ensure the timely resolution of these cases.
