The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has strongly condemned the recent Governorship Election Petition Tribunal ruling in Enugu State, labeling it as illogical and a threat to Nigeria’s electoral integrity.
In a statement on Saturday, HURIWA criticized the tribunal’s decision to dismiss petitions based on the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate’s validity, emphasizing that it raises concerns about potential certificate forgery.

The statement signed by the National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko also questioned the appointment of Justice Kudirat Morayo Akano as the panel’s chairperson, highlighting past allegations of judicial misconduct against her just as the rights group argued that the ruling undermines the importance of NYSC certificates and calls for urgent reforms in Nigeria’s electoral and judicial systems.
