In 2019, after producing the soundtrack for Living in Bondage: Breaking Free, record label executive Larry Gaaga took a sabbatical. He returned in 2021 with a fresh approach to the music industry, launching the 2021 edition of Egedege. For this, he brought together Queen Theresa Onuorah, the celebrated Egedege goddess, alongside Flavour, Ijele of Africa, and Phyno. Gaaga has made his mark in the Nigerian music scene with a unique mix of songwriting, production, management, entrepreneurship, and singing.
From his early feature on “Get Down” with V.E.C. and 2face, Gaaga’s rise has been marked by high-profile collaborations, including “Gaaga Shuffle” with 2Baba, “Doe” with Davido, “Baba Nla” with 2Baba, Burna Boy, and D’banj, and “Low” with Wizkid in 2019. He has solidified his influence in the Afro-pop world.
On November 1, 2024, Gaaga captivated audiences with Obodo, a seamless fusion of modern Afrobeats with rich, traditional Igbo sounds produced by Ginikachukwu Nweke, aka Masterkraft. Featuring a stellar lineup with Flavour, Phyno, and Theresa Onuorah, the performance felt like a celebration of Igbo heritage.
