The Nery Developmental Initiative (NDI) has commended the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for its outstanding achievements in combating illicit drug trafficking, following the recent commendation and donation of operational equipment by the French government.
In a statement on Saturday, NDI lauded NDLEA’s operational successes, including over 57,792 arrests, the seizure of 9.9 million kilogrammes of illicit substances, and 10,572 convictions within four years. The organization described these milestones as a testament to the agency’s unwavering commitment to a drug-free Nigeria.
NDI also applauded the French government for recognizing NDLEA’s efforts and fostering international collaboration in the fight against narcotics. It urged other global stakeholders to extend similar support to strengthen drug control measures in Nigeria.
While emphasizing the need for a holistic approach to tackling drug abuse, NDI reiterated its commitment to community-driven initiatives, including advocacy, rehabilitation support, and youth empowerment programs. The organization further called for increased investments in preventive education and alternative livelihood programs for at-risk groups.
