In a glowing endorsement of visionary leadership, Dr. Chrys Anyanwu, Executive Director of Global Advocacy for African Affairs (GAAA), was on Tuesday decorated with the prestigious “Icon of Transformational Leadership Award” by the National Association of Northern Nigerian Students (NANNS).
The student body, made up of dynamic young Nigerians from the northern region, stormed Dr. Anyanwu’s office in a colourful courtesy visit to honour what they described as his “selfless and impactful strides” in human capacity development, youth empowerment, and global advocacy.
Speaking during the presentation, the NANNS leadership praised Dr. Chrys Anyanwu for embodying the principles of transformational leadership, national unity, and progressive activism. They noted that his work continues to inspire a new generation of leaders across Nigeria and beyond.
“We are here to celebrate a man who has not only spoken truth to power but has also led by example through innovative engagements in advocacy, peace-building, and capacity development,” the delegation said.
In his acceptance remarks, Chrys Chigere Anyanwu thanked the students for the recognition and reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to nation-building, with a special focus on Nigeria’s youth.
“This honour is not just for me—it is for every young person out there working against the odds to make our nation better,” he said. “This visit has also opened the door for deeper collaboration, particularly in addressing the security and development concerns in the northern region.”
