Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has expressed strong disapproval of the actions of Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, which they characterize as “irritating pettiness,” in his dealings with Deputy Governor Comrade Philip Shaibu.
HURIWA’s statement comes in response to recent incidents involving Governor Obaseki’s treatment of his deputy, including the expulsion of Shaibu from the Government House premises and the denial of access by security personnel.

Meanwhile, HURIWA has called on the Edo State House of Assembly to investigate whether these actions constitute impeachable offenses, as stipulated in Nigeria’s constitution.
