The Director of Media and Public Affairs and Official Spokesperson of the All-Progressives Congress Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo, has come under fire for claiming that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, is planning to fake his assassination attempt.
In a statement issued on Monday, Keyamo raised the alarm that Obi had plans to cast aspersions on the ruling party by hiring some supporters dressed in the APC caps and T-shirts to attack some of the Labour party’s offices.
The statement read in part, “We are also aware that plans are afoot by Mr Peter Obi to fake an assassination attempt on himself and hire Labour Party boys dressed in the APC caps and T-shirts to attack some Labour Party offices. It is all part of the “US Plan”. It is the first in a series of incendiary actions planned by this ill-prepared but desperate candidate.”
With the trending hashtag, #ArrestFestusKeyamo, many supporters of Obi, popularly known as Obidients, are calling for thorough investigations into the Keyamo’s claim and how he came about it.
Advising Obi to beef up his security, @PrinceLince said, “This is unacceptable! There is no smoke without fire. What is APC up to? Are they trying to exonerate themselves from a plan being hatched by them? We understand reverse psychology and we should not take this Threat to Obi’s life lightly. I call on @Peterobi to beef up!!!”

“#ArrestFestusKeyamo is trending guys, keep retweeting he needs to be picked by @PoliceNG @dss_nigeria for him to explain how he got this info, so police will look into it, Ifeanyi Ubah was attacked and many people lost their lives, information like this should not be neglected,” @4GOODGEOFF wrote.
“If anything happens to Peter Obi, @fkeyamo will be held responsible. Since he has more information than the police. He will give us the full information if things go south. You will think it’s all those internet small talks,”@Igboticman tweeted.
