The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has strongly condemned the recent violence by suspected soldiers in Imo State’s Umualumaku Umueze.
The rights group, in a statement by the National Coordinator; Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko expressed outrage at property destruction in the Oriendu community following the killing of security personnel, deeming it unjust and a violation of engagement rules.
While calling for identifying, apprehending, and bringing the culprits to justice, HURIWA appreciated the Nigerian Army’s denial of involvement and urged a transparent investigation.

The group further extended condolences to affected families, supported inter-agency collaboration, and called for justice, accountability, and peace restoration in the area, with the belief that united efforts could prevent further violence.
