The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has demanded an inquiry and suspension of the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu.

The call comes in response to allegations of using armed policemen to harass and intimidate two Abuja-based businesswomen, Mrs. Zainab Akwanga and Mrs. Vivian Adzume Habila, at their Mambaah Cafe| Creative Hub in Maitama, Abuja.

HURIWA expressed shock over the reported unlawful invasion, property destruction, and intimidation by Halilu and his associates. The women had petitioned the Inspector General of Police, accusing Halilu of using brute force and intimidation to resolve a contractual dispute, resulting in damage and financial losses.

The civil rights group called on President Bola Tinubu to suspend Halilu pending an independent investigation and emphasized the need for accountability and adherence to the rule of law. HURIWA also urged the Inspector General of Police to ensure justice and hold the perpetrators accountable.
