Federal Government Launches Indigenous Pay TV

On Thursday, the Federal Government introduced Silver Lake Television, a new satellite pay television service in Nigeria, aiming to provide value for consumers. The unveiling ceremony was presided over by George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, at the Shehu Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.

Representing Akume, Prof. Babatunde Bernard emphasized the importance of offering Nigerians alternatives to existing satellite pay TV services, stating that Silver Lake Television, operated by Metrodigital Limited, aims to provide quality service at affordable prices.

    Dr. Ifeanyi Nwafor, Managing Director of Metrodigital Limited, highlighted the challenges faced by the pay-TV industry in Nigeria due to existing policies encouraging monopolies. He assured consumers of affordable access to 55 TV stations, starting as low as N2,500.

    The Federal Government expressed its support for Silver Lake Television, affirming its commitment to promoting competition and innovation in the broadcast industry.
