The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has strongly condemned the recent wave of atrocities allegedly perpetrated by armed Fulani terrorists in Ukwulu Town, Dunukofia LGA, Anambra State. The brazen act of banditry reportedly involved the rape of a man, his wife, and their housemaid, prompting calls for immediate action from the Anambra state government.
HURIWA emphasized the urgent need for the administration of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo to apprehend and prosecute the perpetrators, who purportedly masqueraded as cattle breeders. The Association recalled that in a Save Our Soul (SOS) message addressed to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, a victim, narrating the harrowing ordeal, recounted being abducted and subjected to merciless beatings and repeated sexual assaults alongside her husband and maid.
“Despite encountering the armed assailants, the victims received no assistance from bystanders, exacerbating their suffering. Demands for exorbitant ransom further underscored the severity of the situation, as the victims endured days of brutality before being released”, HURIWA frowned.

The organization called for robust security measures to be implemented immediately to curtail further incidents of violence and ensure the protection of vulnerable women and girls.
