President Bola Tinubu has described his official visit to China as “very successful,” citing strengthened cooperation in infrastructure, trade, finance, energy, and mining as major outcomes. During an address to the Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO China) and the Nigerian community in Beijing, the President highlighted key discussions held with Chinese leaders, including President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang, during the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).
According to a Press Statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), Tinubu urged Nigerians living in China to be good ambassadors and uphold national values. He praised China’s disciplined society as an example for Nigerians and stressed the need for discipline and commitment to nation-building.
Reflecting on China’s development, the President pledged to replicate its quality home infrastructure, particularly in education, electricity, water supply, and road construction. He acknowledged the challenges posed by Nigeria’s ongoing reforms, particularly in fuel pricing, but assured Nigerians that such decisions were necessary for sustainable development.
“We want our children to be in good schools, not tattered huts. One economic action leads to another, and it is in your hands to build our nation,” Tinubu stated.
