Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has urged the people of the state to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and resilient in the face of the political crisis currently rocking the state.

Reacting to the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State and his suspension alongside the House of Assembly by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Fubara, in a statewide broadcast, expressed unwavering faith in democratic processes and the rule of law.

Addressing Rivers people with a calm yet resolute tone, Fubara said all his actions since assuming office have been guided by his constitutional oath and a profound sense of duty to the state. He reiterated that his administration prioritized protection of lives, security, and the overall progress of Rivers State.

He noted that even amid the political impasse, his government remained committed to peace, order, and constitutional order. “We prioritized the protection of lives and property and ensured the continuous progress of our dear State,” Fubara stated.

The Governor highlighted his compliance with the Supreme Court’s judgment and President Tinubu’s earlier peace intervention, pointing out that he had welcomed back commissioners who previously resigned in good faith, demonstrating his commitment to stability and governance.

However, he lamented that members of the Rivers State House of Assembly continually frustrated peace efforts. Despite the challenges, he stressed that good governance had not ceased, salaries were paid, developmental projects continued, and Rivers State remained safe and peaceful under his leadership.
