The Federal Government has officially declared Friday, April 18, and Monday, April 21, 2025, as public holidays to mark this year’s Easter celebrations in Nigeria. The holidays are in observance of Good Friday and Easter Monday, which commemorate the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Minister of Interior, announced the holiday dates on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, and made available on Tuesday.
The government extended warm felicitations to Christians across the country, urging them to embrace the virtues of sacrifice and love exemplified by the death and resurrection of Christ. The statement emphasized that Easter represents the completion of the redemptive work of salvation for mankind.
