Miss Rachael Austin; one of Nigeria’s fastest rising Face and Fashion Model has called on government to start placing values on models so as to recognize the enormous potentials in the Modeling Industry. According to her, “In this part of the world our governments don’t place value on models which is why we don’t even have a standard Modeling Academy”.
The 25 year old made this call in Abuja on Thursday while speaking to Journalists on the sidelines of the Democracy Youth Round Table held at the National Merit House, Maitama. The event, which was designed to gather influential youths together from across Nigeria to discuss and brain-storm on youth involvement in politics, was in recognition of the theme: Reinventing Youth Energies and Capacities for Peace and Nation Building in Nigeria
While expressing that becoming a model may seem easy and acknowledging that a little training and experience can make the world of difference, the passionate Miss Austin revealed that setting up a standard Modeling Academy will help an upcoming model learn the ropes and acquire skills needed to become a successful and professional model, while helping boost one’s confidence in general. “Modeling is such a competitive industry so leaning the basics puts you at the top of the pile when it comes to booking jobs”, she explained.
Describing modeling as a highly vocational business, she revealed there is more to modeling than a quick pose or walk. “Modeling can be a very highly paid profession so you need to be equipped with the correct tools in order to be top of your game and succeed as a model”, Miss Rachael added.
Very innovative and hardworking, Rachael recounted that breaking into the modeling industry is always a hard one as there are thousands of girls who want to be models. She further stated that because of this, most times, those in charge tend to place charges on upcoming models. Such charges according to her could include sex before job.
On the other hand, the creative model informed that the theme of the round table event provided a platform that is timely and of crucial necessity to the democratic requirements of our nation wherein young leaders engaged in proactive discussions, deliberations and arguments that suggested better approaches and engagements that will further strengthen and improve our democratic structure.
“The role of the youths in sustainable peace and development cannot be over-emphasized. This is because youths are one of the greatest assets that any nation can have. Not only are they legitimately regarded as the future leaders, they are potentially and actually the greatest investment for a country’s development. The extent of their vitality, responsible conduct, and roles in society is positively correlated with the development of their country”, she explained.
Continuing, she charged all youths to re-channel their energy towards to peace building, quality education, entrepreneurship and leadership development. “The youths should at this time resolve to stand firmly for peace and development. This is because youths can create the society they want by meaningfully engaging in both humanitarian works, peace building, advocacy, policies, leadership, politics, entrepreneurship and SDG”.
Conclusively, Miss Austin Rachael informed that she is planning some engagements and activities specifically designed to campaign for a massive participation of youths in evolving a greater and better Nigeria devoid of violence and political crises.
