The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has made a strong demand for transparency regarding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s academic records from Chicago State University amidst allegations of identity fraud. President Tinubu recently took legal action to prevent the release of certain confidential educational records, raising concerns.
A media statement on Tuesday emphasized that transparency in this matter is crucial for electoral integrity and democracy. They cited Nigeria’s constitutional right to access information and argued that citizens have the right to know their political leaders’ educational backgrounds.

The media statement signed by the National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko also questioned the transparency of Nigeria’s electoral process and supported calls for the release of President Tinubu’s academic records. They believe this will enhance transparency and credibility in Nigeria’s democratic processes.
Additionally, HURIWA raised concerns about recent PEPC’s judgment related to the Federal Capital Territory and President Tinubu’s economic policies, including the removal of fuel subsidies and currency devaluation, which they argue have negatively impacted the economy.
