The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has strongly criticized the Nasarawa State Police Command for suppressing a peaceful protest against the Supreme Court’s controversial ruling on the 2023 governorship election. The court upheld the victory of APC’s Abdullahi Sule, leading to public dissent.

In a statement signed by the National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, HURIWA decried the police’s violation of citizens’ constitutional rights and called for the release of 38 arrested protesters. The advocacy group urged the governor to promote unity and dialogue, condemning his divisive remarks.
