In the aftermath of the Super Eagles’ clash with Guinea in a pre-AFCON fixture, Coach Jose Peseiro has expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance, despite succumbing to a 2-0 defeat.
The encounter unfolded on Monday, with Nigeria dominating the first half but failing to capitalize on their chances. Aguibou Camara of Guinea netted the opening goal, while Moses Simon missed a penalty kick for the Super Eagles.
Speaking about the match, Peseiro defended his team’s display, stating, “We tested the new 3-4-3 system today. We had a very good first half. Of course, we were losing 1-0, but we deserved more.”

Despite the setback, the coach emphasized the positive aspects of the game, highlighting the team’s performance in the first half and the creation of clear chances. Peseiro acknowledged the challenges faced in the second half, citing the need to adapt to the opponent’s speed and counter-attacks.
“We changed to 4-3-3,” he explained. “Even if they got the second goal, I’m very happy because I changed the team; I didn’t play all the players. I tried to manage the team, and I didn’t show the first eleven; I showed two first elevens. I am happy.”
