Akwa Ibom State is set to unlock new opportunities in agriculture, with a partnership that could transform the sector into a major driver of tourism and economic growth. This initiative is being championed by Governor Pastor Umo Eno, who is keen on leveraging global expertise to advance the state’s development.
Speaking when he received a delegation from UNDP at the Government House in Uyo on Wednesday, Governor Eno emphasized his administration’s commitment to leveraging global partnerships for development. The delegation was led by UNDP’s Resident Representative for Nigeria, Ms. Elsie Attafuah.
Governor Eno identified key areas for collaboration, including agriculture, environment, power, aviation, housing, rural development, women and youth empowerment, sports, transportation, ICT, education, and healthcare. He noted that these sectors are critical to the success of his administration’s ARISE Agenda, aimed at achieving comprehensive transformation across the state.
The Governor directed his Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Advisor, Mr. Aniefiok Johnson, to liaise with the UNDP team to identify specific areas for partnership.

In her remarks, Ms. Attafuah commended the ARISE Agenda as a well-articulated development blueprint and assured that UNDP would continue to explore potential areas of collaboration to support its full implementation.
