President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria has pledged the solidarity and brotherhood of Nigeria to Lebanon over the massive explosions that rocked Beirut, the capital city of Lebanon on Tuesday, suspected to be caused by tons of ammonium nitrate stored in a warehouse.
A statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, revealed that President Buhari, who condoled with President Michel Aoun and the people of Lebanon also extended the sympathy of government to the large community of Lebanese in Nigeria.
Describing the explosions, which killed 137 persons, leaving over 5000 wounded and more than 300, 000 displaced as “tragedy of monumental proportions,” President Buhari praying that God will rest the souls of the dead, comfort the grieving, and grant succour to the wounded and displaced.
