As the March 11th, 2023 governorship election in Nigeria draws near, certain people and issues are beginning to gain the spotlight. One such person is Prof Uche Ikonne of the PDP in Abia State.
Despite being the governorship candidate of the PDP in Abia State, Prof Uche Ikonne has not been seen nor heard in the public or anywhere else for several weeks now. The 67-year-old educationist is rumoured to be very unwell and may be on a therapeutic procedure.

How can the candidate of a ruling party be missing in action in the heat of the political battle with no information on his whereabouts? What this portends is that if his party eventually wins the election by whatever means possible, he would be coming into office without saying or promising anything to anyone.
This was exactly how Senator Theodore Orji became governor of the state in 2007 while cooling down his feet in the EFCC prison. Orji practically became governor of Abia State without a single physical campaign or manifesto.

Thank goodness, this time around, there are strong candidates in Abia, ready and willing to give all it takes to wrest power from the PDP in the state.

With the candidacies of Alex Otti of the Labour Party and High Chief Ikechi Emenike of the APC, the 2023 governorship election in Abia State will surely be a golden opportunity to liberate the state from the shackles of anti-development forces that have held the people to ransom for more than 23 years of Nigeria’s democratic experience.
It’s time to Rescue and Develop Abia!
