Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has described as untrue the speculations that the G5 Governors have backed a candidate ahead of the 2023 Presidential elections.

Wike, who made this clarification on Friday during the flag-off of the construction of Eneka-Igbo Etche Road, Rivers State disclosed that the G-5 governors have not reached a deal with any presidential candidate.

“[They said] Wike had an interview with BBC and he said we have a deal with so and so. Meanwhile, no video, no audio. And some of you waste your time listening to such things.

    “So, my dear people, I just want to tell you that whatever decision I will take, I will let you know. I cannot take any decision without taking advice from you,” Wike said.

    Recall that earlier, the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike had informed during the commissioning of the tenth flyover of his administration in the Obio-Akpor L.G.A of the state that he will make his preferred presidential candidate known in January 2023.

    The G-5, which include Wike, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Seyi Makinde (Oyo), Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), and Samuel Ortom (Benue) have been insisting that the National Chairman of the Party, Iyorchia Ayu, must resign.

      Thus, the group has been in a running battle with Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate following the party’s presidential primary.
