HURIWA Slams 2024 Budget, Decries Shortfall in Social Welfare

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) strongly criticized President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2024 budget, citing major flaws in addressing the needs of the vulnerable.

HURIWA expressed concern over the meager 12.5% allocation to the social sector, particularly health and education, emphasizing its inadequacy compared to international standards. “The contradiction in promised and actual allocations, coupled with excessive debt servicing costs, raises doubts about the government’s commitment to citizens’ well-being”.
